Mark Jackson is Founder and Principal of nclusionary, a consultancy devoted to accessibility beyond compliance, and design beyond inclusion. nclusionary’s premium consulting services guide clients beyond current best practices toward innovative and practical solutions for access and inclusion.
nclusionary helps create welcoming spaces sensitive to both user need and client perspective. Rather than conducting work “outside the loop,” nclusionary serves as an integral member of its clients’ project teams to seamlessly integrate access and inclusion into every stage of a project from concept to close-out and beyond.
Jackson founded nclusionary after nearly 20 years working in the field of accessibility at Steven Winter Associates, Inc. After several years honing his experience on residential accessibility, including the FHA, Title II, and Section 504 compliance, Jackson took on the role of Accessibility Consulting Director responsible for the development and operation of the Commercial Accessibility Services team.
As the Commercial Accessibility Services team lead, Jackson provided accessibility consulting services to clients on civic, commercial, cultural, educational, institutional, recreational, hospitality, and other projects. From the beginning of design to final construction, and throughout operation, Jackson has conducted countless document reviews, construction progress inspections, and existing facility audits and surveys.
Jackson has specialized expertise in the accessible design and construction requirements of federal, state, and local laws and building codes, including the Fair Housing Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Jackson is certified in the Built Environment by the Accessibility Professionals Association (APAC-BE). He is an International Code Council Certified Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner (ICC AI/PE) and a California Certified Access Specialist (CASp-693).
In addition to technical guidance and training, Jackson offers clients litigation consulting and expert witness services.
