This presentation will discuss specific sections of the ADA Standards related to healthcare accessibility and will analyze their real-world application with an emphasis on practical matters and the sometimes-misunderstood impact on people with disabilities.

This presentation will use floor plans, photographs and specific ADA complaints to develop a deeper understanding of accessibility in healthcare

The facilities that will be discussed include: Outpatient Clinics, Radiology Clinics, Medical Office Buildings, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, Rehabilitation Facilities and Hospitals.

Registration will open in late summer.

2. Attendees must attend an entire session to receive continuing education credit for a course.
3. Course credit may not be available for courses repeated.

Effective September 1, 2023, all continuing education (CE) credits required by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) for the Registered Accessibility Specialist (RAS) license must be self-reported by licensees. Licensees are responsible for tracking and reporting their own CE credit to TDLR in accordance with the department's requirements. For information on CE credit requirements, including the types of courses that qualify, the number of hours required, and how to report credit, please visit the TDLR website at https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/ab/.
6. APA will report attendance to APAC and AIA if the course is approved for APAC and AIA CE credit. For all other organizations, attendees must self-report using the course completion certificates provided by APA.
