Description

What is the Texas Accessibility Academy? 

A two-day comprehensive study of the Texas Architectural Barriers Act (TABA), Architectural Barriers Administrative Rules, and the 2012 Texas Accessibility Standards  (TAS). The two-day course also provides information about how the TABA and TAS relate to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.

NOTICES:
1. APA members, please make sure you are signed in before you register so you will receive the member discount. 

2. You may register for either one or both days of the Academy. For any day you attend, you must attend the entire day to receive the continuing education credit. If you want to attend both days, you must register for both days. 
3. Course credit may not be available for courses repeated.
4. If you have a disability and may require accommodations to participate in this virtual class, please email FrancesEllington@AccessibilityProfessionals.org as soon as possible. All accommodation requests must be submitted by June 3, 2025, to allow time to make arrangements.

5. Effective September 1, 2023, all continuing education (CE) credits required by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) for the Registered Accessibility Specialist (RAS) license must be self-reported by licensees. Licensees are responsible for tracking and reporting their own CE credit to TDLR in accordance with the department's requirements. For information on CE credit requirements, including the types of courses that qualify, the number of hours required, and how to report credit, please visit the TDLR website at https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/ab/.

6. APA will report attendance to AIA. For all other organizations, attendees must self-report using the course completion certificates provided by APA.
