Description

What is the Texas Accessibility Academy? 

A two-day comprehensive study of the Texas Architectural Barriers Act (TABA), Architectural Barriers Administrative Rules, and the 2012 Texas Accessibility Standards  (TAS). The two-day course also provides information about how the TABA and TAS relate to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.

 

16 hours of CE, all credit is self-report

NOTICES:
1. APA members, please make sure you are signed in before you register so you will receive the member discount. 


2. You may register for either one or both days of the Academy. For any day you attend, you must attend the entire day to receive the continuing education credit. If you want to attend both days, you must register for both days. 


3. Important CE Information: While the Texas Accessibility Academy is offered multiple times annually, participants who have previously completed it may not be eligible for additional continuing education (CE) credit. Please verify with your licensing organization if you have questions about repeat credit. This course is not registered with any licensing agencies. All credit is self-reported.


4. If you have a disability and may require accommodations to participate in this virtual class, please email FrancesEllington@AccessibilityProfessionals.org as soon as possible. All accommodation requests must be submitted by February 20, 2026, to allow time to make arrangements.


5. Effective September 1, 2023, all continuing education (CE) credits required by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) for the Registered Accessibility Specialist (RAS) license must be self-reported by licensees. Licensees are responsible for tracking and reporting their own CE credit to TDLR in accordance with the department's requirements. For information on CE credit requirements, including the types of courses that qualify, the number of hours required, and how to report credit, please visit the TDLR website at https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/ab/.


6. After registering, you will need to complete a Zoom form linked to in your confirmation email to receive your personal Zoom login. That email will also have a link to add to your calendar. IMPORTANT: Do not share your login with anyone.
