One in five American adults has some degree of hearing loss, yet the impact of this often-invisible disability is frequently overlooked. This course provides a comprehensive overview of assistive listening requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the California Building Code (CBC).
Participants will:
- Understand the challenges faced by individuals with hearing loss
- Learn where and when assistive listening systems are required by law
- Explore the types of assistive listening technologies available
- Gain clarity on the specific compliance measures outlined in the ADA and CBC
- Discover how to create accessible and inclusive environments in public venues
Ideal for architects, AV professionals, facility managers, and accessibility advocates, this course equips you with the knowledge needed to meet compliance standards and support equal access for all.

- APA will report attendance to APAC and AIA if the course has APAC and AIA CE credit. For all other organizations, attendees must self-report using the course completion certificates provided by APA.
